Well done to all the gymnasts who took part in the Birmingham Invitational Competition on Sunday 12 July. We entered 5 teams in the event and each team came away with medals. There were medals for best apparatus results as well as overall. In the Novice category we had a senior team consisting of Amy, Georgia, Tegan, Lottie and Marianne who took overall team bronze and an intermediate team consisting Millie, Ellie, Lucy, Lauren and Abigail who took gold! In the Advanced category we had a senior team with Steph, Hayley, Abbie, Charlotte and Mia who took overall silver, an intermediate team consisting of Emma, Maeve, Shan, Sarah and Holly who took silver and finally a junior team with Holly, Emily, Freyja, Mia and Anna who took the overall gold. An excellent set of results.

See the 'Results' page for the current list of CLUB CHAMPIONS 2015 and award winners.

Well done to all the gymnasts who competed in Birmingham Friendly competition at Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre on 16 and 17 May. We came away on Saturday with two team silver medals and two individual silver medals in the Advanced Competition!! The 8-10 year old team consisted of Emily, Mia, Freyja, Holly P, Holly W and Sarah with Holly P getting the individual medal. The 11-13 year old team consisted of Abbie, Charlotte, Izzy, Emma, Maeve and Shan with Maeve taking the individual medal. On Sunday we had gymnasts entered in the Novice category (training 1-2 hours per week) and the 14+ team consisting of Steph, Maddie, Rachel, Freya and Mia took the silver with an individual silve for Steph - so you could say we had a 'silver' weekend. Well done to all who took part.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all the Rebound gymnasts who took part in this year's Regional Novice Competition at North Solihull Sports Centre on Saturday 25 April. The club came away with 12 medals, six of which were GOLD!

In the Beginner category for 8-9 year olds, Anna Coulstock took the silver medal out of 28 gymnasts. Her fellow team mate, Ellie Davies came 19th. In the next age group 10-12 year olds, we saw Tegan Rymer and Amy Gemmill take joint GOLD! Not too far behind them were Millie MacCaulay in 8th place and Ellie Potts in 9th place.

In the Intermediate category for 8-9 year olds, Mia Conduit took GOLD (coming 1st on each piece) and Freyja Wells the silver! In the 10-12 year old competition, Sarah Gahan was the clear winner taking GOLD, with Holly Woolmore just behind her with silver. Fellow team mate, Freya Shepherdson, narrowly missed getting a bronze medal by 0.35. We also had Marianne Mackiewicz coming 8th, Abigail Steele 19th and Georgia Townsend 21st.

Finally in the Advanced category in the 8-9 year old age group Holly Percival stole the show with her GOLD medal and Emily Cooksey took the bronze. In the 10-12 year old section, Maeve Ollerenshaw took the GOLD and Emma Gahan the silver. Close behind and narrowly missing a bronze medal by 0.3 was Freya Taylor-Saul in 5th place and Shan Koo came 10th. In the 13+ category Stephanie Campbell took the bronze medal (0.3 off Gold), Izzy Willman came 5th (0.6 off a medal) and Charlotte Winsper came 18th

This is a fantastic achievement, especailly as some of these gymnasts only train 2-hours a week. This is down to the hard work and dedication of both gymnasts and coaches. A special thank you to Ellie Sarson, Becki Blay, Lucy Billson and Aimee Delaney.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lucy and Cathy on achieving their Women's Artistic Level 1 coaching award on Sunday 29 March.

A special message from Rebound’s Freya Taylor-Saul:

My name is Freya and I am 10 years old and a gymnast at Rebound GC.

In the summer of 2014 I watched a film called ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. In this film the main character suffered with lung cancer and constantly had to carry an oxygen tank around with her 24/7. I know this was only a film but it made me think how lucky I am. I am a very fit, healthy and energetic 10-year old and I take part in lots of sporting activities. The film made me realise that not all of us can take part in such activities as I do and having never met anyone who was or is in a position I was shocked that people have no choice with their illnesses and how brave they are.

It made me feel that I wanted to help in some way and do something that would make people look and understand why I want to help. So I have chosen to shave my hair off. My plan is to raise money to give to the ‘Children with cancer Charity’ and to donate my hair to ‘The Little Princess Charity’ in the hope that someone will get some happiness.

I plan to do this event on Wednesday 4th March 2015. Thank you for supporting me, even the smallest donation will help.

Thank you……Freya X

  • Fantastic News - two of our gymnasts came away with medals at the Regional Novice competition held on Sunday 23 March. The gymnasts competing in the Advanced category had to compete a week early due to the exceptionally high number of entrants this year. Rebound had 5 gymnasts competing - Stephanie Campbell in the 13+ group who came 6th overall and a 2nd place on beam. In the 10-12 year old category Lily Ivory came 9th, Izzy Willman came 6th (2nd on bars), Emma Gahan got a bronze medal (1st on bars and 2nd on vault) and Abbie Brown who came 2nd overall with a 1st placement on beam and vault and 3nd on bars. • CONGRATULATIONS to Abbie Brown and Marianne Mackiewicz on getting gold and becoming Regional Novice Champions!! Also to Maeve Ollerenshaw on getting a silver medal and to Lily Ivory and Charlotte Winsper for getting bronze medals. The Club took part in the Regional Novice Competition held at North Solihull Sports Centre on Saturday 13 April and had gymnasts entered in different levels (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) and age groups. Marianne took gold in the 8/9 Beginner category and Abbie took her gold in the 10/12 Advanced category. This is great achievement for the club as in a lot of cases our gymnasts train half the number of hours of other competitiors. We are very proud of all the girls who competed including Stephanie Campbell (who sadly missed out on a medal after 2 falls on beam - which never normally happens), Izzy Willman, Rachel Bennett, Emma Gahan and Kelsie Sheppard. All the girls performed really well on the day and had showed off some great floor routines. A very big thankyou to all the coaches, especially Michele and Alison who entered gymnasts for the first time (and Marianne got a gold medal at her first regional competition), also to Ellie (who taught the floor routines to medal winners Abbie, Lily, Charlotte and Maeve) and to Alice (who made sure the girls were all registered on time and recorded routines) not forgetting Jess and Becki for helping out on the competition floor.
